i tend to compare everything to music but in this case i think it is especially appropriate. my favorite bands all bring something new and exciting to the table and most have worked at “finding their voice.” cliche, but true. it’s something photographers don’t do all that often. most tend to stop at “capturing the moment.” you’re absolutely onto something, though, in that it’s HOW you capture it and WHICH moment you’re capturing that is where you will truly shine (and where all the editors will start salivating). it’s not hard to get a good picture of akiko, the trick is getting to a point where someone sees that picture and says, “that’s totally a chloe.”

Keep pushing the film and the black and white–something about the quality is much much more.

The black and white are light years ahead of the color. The color ones just look like anything you’d see on thecobrasnake.com. Which I suppose is fine and dandy if that’s what you’re going for, lumped in with a bunch of Terry Richardson clones, but with the black and white you’re really doing something. Stick with it.
