- Lille Boutique Art Show
I am showing some of my recent work at Lille Boutique, Sara’s store, for the month of June.
There is a First Friday reception tonight from 6 to 9pm, at 1007 E Burnside in Portland, Oregon. Here’s the press release:
Next Friday, June 6, 2008 from 6pm to 9pm, Lille Boutique will be hosting the fourth in a series of art shows coinciding with First Friday on East Burnside. “Let Me In” is the upcoming photography exhibition by Portland resident, Chloe Richard. A 2006 PNCA graduate, Richard’s most recent black and white candid portraits are a series of highly self aware images. She focuses mainly on the role a camera plays in dictating the “moment” that it is purported to be unbiased in capturing. Her portraits are subtle and oddly beautiful, although not always flattering. The subjects, mostly young women, often close friends of the artist, often challenge the lens, or else obviously pretend to ignore it. At first glance the series seems to be about a certain assertive defensiveness that modern single women in their mid-twenties tend to possess, but after further examination, the presence of the third party and the tension that a camera creates is clearly where the unifying attitude of her subjects arises, and is exactly what Richard has set out to chronicle.
Lille Boutique carries high-end lingerie made of natural fibers, with an emphasis on cutting-edge, independent design. This free event will be open to the general public, and complimentary refreshments will be served. Lille is located at 1007 E. Burnside St. on the north corner of 10th Ave.
See you tonight!
